Research problem

There were many intellectual trends and the historical approaches that were followed in writing the Ottoman history in Algeria, and behind them the historical sources of the period, cannot be ignored. The dominance of the French sources over them and their association with the archives of the colonial administration, which may result in prejudices that are not really related to the reality of Algerian history in that period, cannot be ignored. It may keep it away from impartiality and objectivity, which may not be achieved by the colonial pens that are indignant at the Ottoman rule in Algeria. In addition to the fact that the study of the subject of the history of the relations of the Eyalet of Algeria is considered one of the difficult studies given that the historical material is difficult to access due to the distribution of the role of the archive among the countries that have a relationship with Algeria such as Spain, Malta, Portugal, Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United States, then the absence of local sources on the subject and their scarcity in Arabic And also the obstacle of the English and Ottoman languages, which many researchers resort to the methods of the French field..., and it is not reasonable to continue to criticize the writing of Algerian history with a colonial tinge without offering alternatives to it or analogues and peers, because history is written from multiple perspectives seeking credibility in proposition and integrity In saying, for this and that; We chose these two books as they have not been translated yet, and they are by American authors, and they date from the same period, which is the Ottoman period in Algeria. They also define the historical borders of Algeria in the period that preceded the French occupation, and describe its terrain and cities and an aspect of the behavior of the people and their daily dealings, and they detail relations Existing between Algeria and its European and Mediterranean surroundings and the United States of America and everything related to the commercial and military field, maritime navigation, exchange of prisoners, detention of war and commercial ships with their names, crews and cargo data, agreement on peace contracts, declaration of war, exchange of ambassadors and consuls, the diplomatic role of mediators in peace contracts and trade, and reading some messages that were Between the ladies of Algeria and the kings and commanders of the armies of some countries, and knowing the stages that each element of the above went through, and the development of spying activity between Algeria and its opponents for a period of more than two centuries, in addition to visualizing the nature of the regime in Algeria during that period from an American point of view, and putting that All within its international framework, and knowing whether Algeria's relationship with these countries is direct or through the Othmane state
