Summary

The Training of Imams and Mourchidates in Algeria: Religious Discourse and National Memory

This project proposal is based on a series of field studies on the religious sphere in Algeria conducted over the past twelve years within various research teams of the Center for Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology (CRASC). The central issue of this project focuses on the analysis of the relationship between religious discourse and national memory, as it is manifested in the content and practices of training imams and mourchidates within both official and community institutions, as well as in the speeches of imams disseminated on social media.
